The number of coronavirus-infected persons has risen to 11 in Lagos, as the state government confirmed four new cases today.

Commissioner for Health in Lagos, Prof. Akin Abayomi confirmed the new cases during a news conference.

He said the first new case was a woman who had contact with a recent United Kingdom returnee.

According to him, the second new case was a lady that returned from France on March 14 aboard Turkish Airlines flight TK 1830.

Abayomi further explained that the third new case was a 50-plus man who has no history of travelling abroad.

The commissioner added that the fourth new case was a Nigerian male who returned from Frankfurt to Lagos aboard Lufthansa airline flight LH568 on March 13.

He advised passengers who travelled on the named flights to self-isolate and contact given emergency numbers.

Earlier, Abayomi said the four new cases were discovered following tests carried out on 19 persons on Wednesday.

He said the four confirmed to be positive for coronavirus have been taken to the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba for isolation and treatment.

Nigeria now has 12 confirmed cases, with 11 in Lagos and one in Ekiti State.
