Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), on Monday, arrested two men for allegedly attempting to rob occupants of a vehicle at Iyana-Ipaja.

The men were identified as Abbey Kolawole and Ikenna Eze.

Our Community however gathered that the leader of the gang, Femi, escaped capture.

The captured gang members were apprehended by residents while attempting to scale a building fence.

They were subsequently handed over to officers of the Rapid Response Squad, who had already received a distress call of robbery in the area.

During interrogation, Eze confessed that he was invited by Femi to partake in the robbery.

He explained that the occupants refused to yield, leading the gang leader to shoot into the air.

“The attack was meant to be a retaliatory one as Femi accused one of the occupants of the vehicle of planning to kill him.

“Femi was the one who knew the road, he escaped while we, strangers in that community, were arrested,” he said.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, hailed the efforts of the residents in the area.

He disclosed that without the cooperation of the residents, the arrest would not have been possible.
