The Chairman, Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon Morenike Adesina Williams has met Ikotun market representatives over the imminent demolition of some shops in Ikotun market due to proposed road construction in the area.

According to a statement signed by Head Media & Publicity Secretary of the council, Comrade A.S. Oseni, the council boss met the stakeholders to discuss a way forward.

Oseni disclosed that at least 60 shops will be demolished “both upstairs and down” due to the construction of Ikotun road.

He further disclosed the Babaloja and Iyaloja of the market, as well as the developers handling the road project, were present at the meeting.

The council spokesman said that the chairman felt the pains of the soon-to-be displaced shop owners and assured them of compensation from the state.

“Demolishment of the market will follow due process in accordance with rule of law without sentiment,” he said.
