A pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) caught fire Thursday morning in Baruwa area of Ipaja, Our Community can report.

According to reports, the pipeline went up in flames around 7:30 am at Peace Estate, Idowu Egba area of Baruwa which is located at Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA.

As at the time of the report, residents said that no fire fighter or security official was on ground to handle the extent of the fire.

They added that they suspect the fire began as a result of pipeline vandalism in the area.

The Chairman of Peace Estate CDA, Barr. Idowu Kokumo confirmed the incident.

He confirmed that one person has died in the incident while report of another casualty is unconfirmed.
