“This boy’s career will be big”, an onlooker said in Yoruba language as he gazed in shock and excitement at the calibre of celebrities that donned the album launch of 13-year-old rising gospel artiste, Okiki Ade Gold. The album titled “Ire Ayo” was launched at an event held in Egbeda on August 4. Hours before the event kicked off, Pasuma Wonder aka ‘Oganla’ placed a telephone call to tender an unreserved apology for his absence as he was indisposed for unforeseen reasons. Notwithstanding, music greats such as Dele Taiwo, Femi Opalemo, Esther Igbekele, St. Janet, Segun Nabi and a host of others made the event a true spectacle.
A couple of celebrities and others present at the album launch had these to say…
Okiki Ade Gold — Host Artiste
I am so happy today. As you can see, some of the celebrities are already here and so hopefully, as expected, the event will be a success. I am looking beyond this album launch, looking to stamp my name, not just in gospel music in Africa, but on the world-wide music map. God gave me this talent to bless people and I will surely not rest on my laurels or achievements. I thank my loving parents for, first, supporting my music career from a tender age, and second, for making this album launch a reality. It could never have been possible without these two most important persons in my life. God bless them mightily. Enjoy the show.
King Femi Opalemo
Whatever that has happened here is not a new thing to me because I know his father very well. Having somebody like that as his father is a good thing. I expected this. Yes, he will go far because he has started well already. I just pray for his parents, for God to help them to continue to support him.
There is no one that is too big before the Lord. I am here just to celebrate the grace of God upon the life of Okiki Adeyemo Gold. He has been a good boy, a good son in the music industry. I just want to say kudos to him. He has done so well but there is room for improvement. I just want to encourage him. He has been doing well but he has to put in more effort because, if you are hard-working, despite the odds, you will scale through. I will describe today’s event as glorious.
He is a good boy and I know when he makes it he will remain so. I want to thank God for his life because he has been a good boy. He will make it just like his name ‘Okiki’ entails.
Okiki Ade Gold happens to be my boy. I noticed this guy some years back at Imeko where I used to put a show together. When I saw him, I told his mum to kindly assist this upcoming star. To God be the glory, I have been around him through the recording and all and I am glad to get to this stage of his improvement. As you can see, I am the first among the artistes to turn up today. The boy’s career is going to be a fantastic one. In the next one year, I bet you, this guy is flying up. I know this because this guy is good at what he is doing. When you see Okiki Ade Gold on stage you will know he is good. I cannot even come close to someone who is not good. I have done just a little to boost him. He has it already inbuilt.
Olaking Omoaruboojo (Olaoye Solomon)
I came here today because Okiki Ade Gold is unique and I want him to do great in life. My aim was to come here and see more artistes and as God will have it I have seen them: the likes of Segun Nabi, Fagbo Adeniyi, together with me and some are still on their way and that is a big plus. I am impressed. He is very lucky as in these hard times people still turned up for the occasion. I wish him well.
The event is a nice one, well packaged. Everyone is having fun and enjoying themselves. It is going really well I must say. Ade Gold is a talent and any talent that comes from God is always pure and natural.
Since I am here already, I can just tell people about this album ‘Ire Ayo’ is going to be a wonderful one. I want everybody to listen to it. It is hard to see a little boy doing this kind of a thing. We need to encourage him; it is not easy. We have been doing it and so we know it is not easy. Unlike myself who does Fuji music; he does gospel music which I think is fine.
Adebayo Adeyemo – Father of Okiki Ade Gold
I am happy. The boy chose to be singing but the primary goal is his education first. But I discovered that singing is a natural talent and I have to encourage him because his music is in the Christian line. So, I am very happy. Concerning the event; it was supposed to start around 4 pm but people are here already and that means a lot.
Mrs. Olayinka Adeyemo – Mother of Okiki Ade Gold
I feel so good. I feel honoured and excited. He will definitely be a success because with God all things are possible. As his guardian, I make sure I advise him and talk to him. I do advise him on the dos and don’ts. I know when he makes it he won’t derail because the celebrity status will not get to his head.
Mrs. Oluwabukola Badewole – Manager of Okiki Ade Gold
First and foremost I give God the glory for the success of this event. What I am seeing today, I did not expect it. All I have to say is ‘thank you God’.
