New Gowon Estate CDA officials

The newly-elected officers of Gowon Estate Community Development Association (CDA) have been inaugurated by the Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area.

The event which took place at the council was held on Friday, January 17.

Mrs. Amusan Olawunmi, the Assistant Chief Community Development Inspector in the LCDA, who supervised the exercise, assured the officers of 100 per cent support from the council.

She advised the elected officials to get along with the government at the council level to bring physical presence of government to the community.

“You should put projects before the LCDA that can make the people of the community feel the presence and benefit of the government.

“On projects, ensure proper records before, during and after the project via video recording or pictures of such projects.

Also speaking at the event, the new CDA Chairman, Alhaji Oyebanji Daud, promised to ensure healthy environment in the community, adding that the issue of security will be their major priority.

He stated that the CDA will liaise with security agencies to create a suitable security model for the people.

“In the past, Gowon Estate was an impenetrable wall for crimes and criminals. It has this open security system that scared people away from crime or its intent.

“Mobsters, buglers, robbers and all other criminals struggle to exist as they were easily curtailed, unlike now that some of these vices live with us and criminals have now made this estate their save haven.

“We have designed a security architecture that will give birth to a Gowon Estate Security Council.

“This council will have the CDA liaise with all the security agencies habituating in Gowon for a holistic security model suitable for the people of the area,’’ he said.

On the issue of waste collection and disposal, Daud disclosed that the CDA will design a model that will enable proper waste disposal.
