The Lagos State Government has revealed that aggressive work towards promoting a bill to institutionalise the establishment of oil-producing areas community development committee is ongoing.

The Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Olalere Odusote, disclosed this during the Lagos State Oil Producing Areas Community Relations Committee Engagement Forum on Thursday, December 19.

He stated that the effort was to ensure that relevant stakeholders in these oil-producing areas of the state support firms operating in their environment.

Odusote promised to encourage oil companies to engage in corporate social responsibility intervention projects for the benefit of host communities, adding that these projects will empower skilled and unskilled people in these communities.
