The Lagos State Taskforce on Counterfeit, Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods has sealed some pharmacies and patent medicine shops in Alimosho Local Government area of the state.
The Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, disclosed this on Sunday, December 8, while reviewing the report of the task force.
Abayomi stated that the affected pharmacies and patent medicine shops were sealed for operating without a licence and beyond scope through the sale of unethical products.
He explained that the sealing process was in accordance with the provisions of section C34 of the Counterfeit, Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods Provision Act of 1999.
The commissioner added that the state government would ensure a suitable environment for proper medical care dispensation.
He warned that the activities of the taskforce would be intensified until operators in the sector adhere to the provisions of the law.
