The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi has reiterated the commitment of the state government to integrate traditional, complementary and alternative medicine practice to the healthcare delivery system in the state.

He disclosed this while inaugurating a 27-member Lagos State Traditional Medicine Research Committee on Wednesday, January 8.

Abayomi stated that the present administration remained committed to the realisation of universal health coverage.

He added that the government would not relent in initiating numerous strategies and implementing programmes aimed at reviving the health sector to bring about the desired changes necessary for the attainment of universal healthcare delivery in the state.

The commissioner further stated that the inauguration of the committee was in line with the World Health Organisation’s strategy for the need for the integration of traditional medicine into the health care delivery system worldwide.
