Two new COVID-19-related deaths have been confirmed in Lagos, bringing total  number of fatalities to 16.

Commissioner for Health in the state, Prof. Akin Abayomi disclosed this in a series of tweets on Tuesday morning.

He said that although no new case of infection was recorded on Monday, April 20, two new deaths were recorded.

Abayomi identified the first victim as a 45-year-old man that returned from India in January 2020.

He said the second victim was a 36-year-old lady with no recent history of foreign travel.

However, he said the lady had a severe underlying health condition, but did not state which condition.

The commissioner wrote, “#COVID19Lagos Update ☑️No new case of
#COVID19 was confirmed in Lagos on 20th April, 2020. ☑️However, #COVID19 related deaths were recorded in Lagos. One of the deceased was a 45 years old Nigerian🇳🇬; male who returned from India in January, 2020.

“☑️The second death involved a 36 year old Nigerian🇳🇬; female with severe underlying health condition. She had no history of travel or contact with any #COVID19 confirmed case. ☑️Total number of #COVID19 related deaths in Lagos now stands at 16.
