Residents of Igbehin Adun Street, Shasha have commended the Alimosho Council Chairman, Hon. Jelili Sulaimon, for his promise to construct drainage in the area and tasked him to commence the project as soon as possible.
The residents made this known in separate chats with Our Community Newspaper during the chairman’s working visit to the area on Wednesday, July 11, when he made the promise.
Other senior council officials that accompanied the chairman on the visit include Council Head of Administration, Engr. Dele Abayomi and the Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman, Mr. Shola Ogunyombo.
Addressing residents of the area, Sulaimon said Igbehin Adun and environs would begin to enjoy dividend of democracy beginning with the proposed drainage construction.
He said, “It is time for the people of Igbeyin Adun Street to enjoy dividend of democracy.
“We will commence drainage construction very soon in Igbehin Adun Street.”
The chairman added that the construction will begin next month.
A landlord in the area, Mr. Judith Kanayo, explained that the street had witnessed flooding in recent times because of the bad drainage system.
He said, “For many years, this street has been like this and we were very surprised to wake up and see the council chairman in front of our street proffering solution to our biggest problem.
“It is a very good thing that he knows what he is doing because this street links many other places in Alimosho and being in this condition is not encouraging at all.”
Another resident of the area, Mr. Sadiku commended the effort of the chairman in the development of the council and urged him to fulfill his promise of constructing the drainage in the area as soon as possible.
He said, “The unpleasant state of the street is obvious to people living in the area.
“Now that the Chairman has come down here himself and promised to do something about it, it brought relief to us.
“We strongly believe in him because of his recent effort in making the common man enjoy life in Alimosho.”
