Residents of Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area have called for a permanent solution to the entrance of the multipurpose market in the area.
Their reaction was in response to pictures posted by the head of media and publicity secretary of the council, showing the palliative measures put in place by the chairman.
According to the post, the multipurpose market entrance is presently wearing a new look with ongoing temporary repairs.
In a series of reactions, the residents stated that the palliative measure was just a temporary fix and called for a complete overhaul of the market.
“I thought the local government is responsible for all the drainage systems in d LGA/LCDA, when last did we have that checked, and the monthly sanitation should be revived, this is a temporary solution to the entrance.
“I expect the leadership to overhaul d entire complex. And make it motorable,” a resident, Oluwaseun Odutayo, said.
Another resident called for a look into the blocked drainage system in the area, saying the temporary work would be destroyed because of the blocked drainage.
“The erosion will come back to wash all away. Why not let’s look for the root cause?
“A drainage system is blocked somewhere and this is the simple reason for that. Clearance and proper channel, and the water will disappear,” another resident, Albert, said.
