Residents of Igando have called on the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to arrest its personnel involved in constant harassment of motorists in the area.
Their request came in reaction to a post on social media by the NPF on their official page on the arrest of an officer, Sgt Onuh Makedomu, caught on video collecting bribe.
According to the post, the non-commissioned officer with Force No.431625, Sgt Onuh Makedomu, attached to 49 PMF, but presently on special duty with the Safer Highways Patrol, Lagos is currently undergoing Orderly Room Trial on a two-count charge of Discreditable Conduct and Corrupt Practices.
In a series of reactions, the residents stated that the police officers at Igando chase motorcycle and tricycle riders all in a bid to collect bribe.
“Just come to Igando and see how your men chase bikes and keke with gun as early as 5am as if it’s their birthright to collect the N50…what is even shameful is, they don’t even search vehicles, they only salute you if something will drop for them,” a resident, Dayo Oshineye, said.
Another resident stated that the police officers at Igando are out of control.
“Could you guys also come and arrest the whole guys that harass motorists in Igando. Your officers in Igando are so out of control. Please do something,” another resident, Folarin, said.
