Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar says one of his sons has tested positive for the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Atiku took to social media to announce this on Monday morning although he did not identify which of his sons was affected.
In a message he personally authored, the 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wrote, “My son has tested positive to coronavirus.
“Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has been duly informed, and he has been moved to Gwagwalada Specialist Teaching Hospital in Abuja for treatment and management.
“I will appreciate it if you have him in your prayers. Stay safe, coronavirus is real.”
Meanwhile, the NCDC disclosed that the nation now has 30 confirmed cases of the virus.
However, the centre said two of those cases have been discharged following treatment.
Taking to its Twitter handle on Sunday evening, NCDC wrote: “Three new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Lagos, Nigeria
“2 cases are returning travellers and 1 is a contact of a confirmed case.
“As at 05:28 pm on the 22nd of March, there are 30 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria. 2 have been discharged with no deaths.”
