Senator Rose Oko (PDP – Cross River North) has died in the United Kingdom.

She died in a London hospital on Monday night, Our Community can report.

However, the cause of her death could not be determined as at press time.

She was 63, having been born on September 27, 1956.

Until her death, Oko, who was first elected into the Senate in 2015, was the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Trade and Investment.

Oko was in the House of Representatives between 2011 and 2015, representing Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency. In the House, she was Deputy Chairman House Committee on Education.

The senator’s death comes amid the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) which is ravaging the world.

Recall that her colleague, Senator Ignatius Longjan (APC – Plateau South) passed away on February 10, 2020 in Abuja.

Before this, Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu (APC – Imo South) died on December 18, 2019.
