The Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Jelili Sulaimon, has launched a security trust fund in the area.
This was made known in a security summit which took place on Friday, November 15.
The Guest Speaker, Mr. Frank Osita, a retired Commissioner of Police in Lagos, called for community policing while speaking on the theme “improving general security for sustainable peace and development in Alimosho Local Government.”
The trust fund, which is an initiative of the present administration to enable adequate funding of security within the local government, will create an avenue for private companies and individuals to contribute towards security efforts in the area.
Sulaimon expressed optimism that corporate bodies and individuals would key into the initiative by donating to the fund.
The Technical Director, Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Mr. Adegbola Luwes who represented the state government also expressed his readiness to support security in Alimosho.
“Security is one of the three main things human beings needed for survival. Security is expensive, there is gross deficit in security funding in Nigeria.
“This initiative will bring back our desired security,” he said.
The Chairman of Egbe Idimu LCDA, Hon. Kunle Sanyaolu Olowoopejo, commended the efforts of the Sulaimon-led Alimosho council administration and promised to replicate the security initiative in his area.
