The Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon Jelili Sulaiman, has called on parents not to forget their first and major responsibility which is raising the children.
He said this at the National Character Parenting Summit on Saturday, August 4, in Lagos.
Sulaimon, who was represented by Dele Olaosebikan, noted that most parents had neglected their parental roles while focusing more on their businesses and careers.
According to him, “Parents have forgotten that the untrained child will one day sell off the house they suffered to build. Train up the child in the way he should go and when he grows up, he will not depart from it.”
He said that parents must take into cognizance the wellbeing of the child mentally, academically and otherwise.
“No matter what we do, we must make sure we nurture our children very well; academically, physically, spiritually, materially and mentally. They are the heritage of God and are arrows in the hands of the Almighty,” Sulaimon said.
