woman in court

A 53-year-old man, Dele Olaseni, has sought divorce from his wife of 22 years on the ground of adultery.

He told the Igando Customary Court on Wednesday that his wife, Esther, 44, was an “unrepentant adulterer” whom he could no longer tolerate.

He also presented photos, downloaded chats and tape recorder containing his wife’s alleged atrocities as exhibit.

According to Olaseni, his wife slept with two of his bosom friends and she resorted to begging him when he found out and confronted her.

He added that she also dated another man that she met on Facebook.

”Adultery is in my wife’s blood. She slept with two of my bosom friends. She confessed and begged me, claiming that the devil pushed her to commit adultery.

”She is currently having an affair with another man on Facebook. I downloaded their love chats and pictures on Facebook as evidence for her family because they always denied that she was wayward when I complained.

“When I investigated, I discovered that he lives in Ikorodu,” the distraught husband told the court.

He added that after a clergyman intervened in the matter, she was made to sign an undertaking that she would desist from her waywardness.

However, Olaseni alleged that his wife still did not change her ways.

Responding, the wife, Esther also told the court to dissolve the union, saying she was tired of it.

She alleged that her husband introduced her to alcohol and took her to different beer parlours, and she has not been able to stop.

Esther, who denied being adulterous, said the exhibits presented by her husband were obtained under duress.

Accusing her husband of defamation of character, Esther said her husband had tainted her image by calling her a prostitute before everyone in their neighbourhood.

The President of the Court, Mr Adeniyi Koledoye, adjourned the case until April 16 for judgement.
