It was a celebration galore on Wednesday, February 26 as a quintessential educator and administrator, Mrs Abiola Abolarin Adejuwon, officially retired from the Lagos State Public Service.

The 60th Birthday/Statutory Retirement Ceremony held at the Community Junior Grammar School (CJGS), Ipaja, where she was last posted as a Principal.

Our Community can report that the event which had old students, colleagues, friends, family and other well-wishers from all walks of life converging to celebrate her service to humanity witnessed colourful displays from the school’s cultural troupe, Christian choir and Islamic singers.

The Chairperson of the day, Mrs Elizabeth Osadola, noted that since everything that has a beginning also has an end, the celebrant’s retirement was a new vista in her life.

She disclosed how, as Principal of Girls Senior High School, Agege, she met Adejuwon when she was posted to the school as Vice Principal six years ago.

Osadola noted that the celebrant fostered an atmosphere of togetherness in the school and was always ready to take on additional responsibilities with equanimity.

The chairperson, who prayed that the celebrant would not retire into sickness or death, advised her to be prudent in spending post-retirement.

She equally advised the celebrant to watch her eating habits in order not to gain weight due to fewer responsibilities.

In his short exhortation, a cleric, Evang (Dr.) Kunle Stephen Olumodeji, described Adejuwon’s retirement from service as “evidence of fruitful labour”.

He added that retirement signalled a “fresh start” and a “new beginning” for the celebrant.

Olumodeji encouraged the celebrant not to exercise fear as she began the “new stage” because God is with her.

Our Community can report that the Chairman, All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Alimosho Zone, Mr Adeolu Ojedokun, conducted the traditional “pen-down” exercise where the celebrant signed the attendance register and logbook for the last time in service.

He equally presented a meritorious service award to Adejuwon on behalf of the group.
