The Chairman of Alimosho Local Government Area, Hon. Jelili Sulaimon, has presented the 2019 proposed budget to the legislative arm for consideration and approval.
This was disclosed in a Thursday statement by the Special Adviser to the Chairman on Media, Jamiu Kunle Ayinde.
The 2019 budget, which is 3.6 per cent lower than the 2018 proposed budget, is tagged “Bridging the Social Economic and Infrastructural Deficit in Alimosho Local Government”.
Our Community Alimosho can report that 34.75 per cent of the total 1,690,355,814.04 is allocated for capital expenditure.
Hon. Jelili while presenting the budget appreciated the understanding and collaborative effort of the legislative arm.
He highlighted some of the achievements of the 2018 budget as: creating of active official website, www.alimosho.lg.gov.ng; construction of Ogo-Oluwa Street (ongoing); rehabilitation of Ponle, Odebunmi, Fajumobi, Olalabi, Akinwowo, Lawal, Church, Gani Animashaun, Samuel, Igbehin Adun, Greenland, Adewole, Duduyemi, Irepodun, Ige and Iwajowa streets; and reconstruction of Akowonjo Primary Health Centre.
Others, he said, were: free medical services in conjuction with Rotary, Rotaract, Lions, Eko clubs; construction of one-storey building blocks of classrooms at Rauf Aregbesola Primary School (ongoing); rehabilitation and furnishing of Iyana-Ipaja Customary Court; and annual football competition for Alimosho youths among others.
While receiving the budget, the Leader of the House, Hon. Hameed Obadina lauded the efforts of the chairman in reconstructing Alimosho.
He also pledged that the legislative arm would give the 2019 budget accelerated hearing.
Obadina said, “The legislative arm will work on the budget and ensure speedy approval for the use of the Local Government.”
